Not rushing waters. Not turbulent waters. Not muddy waters. But still waters.

Yet many believers confuse still with stagnant.

Still waters are peaceful, Stagnant waters are polluted.

Still waters refresh, Stagnant waters decay.

Still waters carry life, Stagnant waters breed disease.

The psalmist did not say, “He leads me beside stagnant waters.” He said, “He leads me beside still waters.”

There is a divine difference.

1. Still waters are governed by God

Still waters are not accidental. They are intentional. They are led by the Shepherd.

“He leads me beside the still waters.” — Psalm 23:2

Emphasis on: He leads me.

Stillness in God is not laziness. It is alignment.

Stillness in God is not passivity. It is positioning.

Still waters exist because God has restrained chaos. He has placed boundaries on turbulence. He has spoken peace into motion.

Just as Jesus stood in the storm and said,

“Peace, be still!” – Mark 4:39

Stillness is not the absence of power , it is power under control. Creation obeys divine governance.

“Thus far you shall come, but no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed.” -Job 38:11

God governs waters, seasons, and your life.

2. Stagnant waters are still without direction

Stagnant water is water that has lost its flow. It remains in one place too long refusing movement. It resists renewal, over time, it begins to smell.

Spiritually, stagnation happens when people stop growing, listening, obeying, and stop moving with God.

They attend church but do not transform. They quote Scripture but do not practice it. They remember yesterday’s miracles but reject today’s instructions.

“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 2 Timothy 3:7

That is stagnation.

Still waters flow quietly, Stagnant waters sit proudly.

Still waters receive fresh supply while stagnant waters recycle old experiences.

3. God never designed you to remain in one season

Every season has an expiry date. David was anointed in the field but crowned in the palace.

Joseph was refined in prison but revealed in governance.

Moses was trained in Midian but commissioned in Egypt.

If Joseph had made peace with prison, Egypt would have starved.

“For behold, the seven years of famine will come…” – Genesis 41:30

Someone’s survival depended on Joseph’s movement.

Your refusal to grow may be delaying someone else’s breakthrough.

God told Israel:

“You have dwelt long enough on this mountain.” – Deuteronomy 1:6

Still waters move forward. Stagnant waters settle backward.

4. Still waters restore the soul

“He restores my soul.” -Psalm 23:3

Restoration requires motion, Healing requires circulation, Growth requires flow.

In Ezekiel’s vision, the river coming from the temple grew deeper as it moved:

“Everything will live where the river goes.” -Ezekiel 47:9

Life followed movement.

Where God’s Spirit flows, healing happens.

Where God’s Spirit flows, fruit appears.

Where God’s Spirit flows, dry bones rise.

But stagnant spirituality produces fatigue, bitterness, and cynicism.

Many are tired not because they are doing too much but because they are doing too little with God.

5. Still waters produce fruit

Jesus said:

“He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit.” – John 15:5

Fruit requires flow. A tree planted by moving water prospers:

“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season.” – Psalm 1:3

Recall; rivers, not puddles.

Still waters are connected to rivers. Stagnant waters are isolated. Isolation kills calling.

6. Beware of comfort that cancels calling

Stagnant waters feel safe. They are familiar, Predictable, and Comfortable. However, comfort can quietly assassinate destiny.

The rich man built bigger barns and settled then God said:

“You fool! This night your soul will be required of you.” – Luke 12:20

He was still but not flowing. Comfort without purpose is spiritual anaesthesia.

7. God is calling you back into holy motion

Beloved, God is not calling you into chaos. He is calling you into stillness with movement.

Still in faith, trust, and obedience, while always flowing.

Paul said:

“Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal.” -Philippians 3:13–14

Pressing is movement. Growth is intentional. Faith is active.

Choose Still Waters

Still waters are peaceful yet progressive. Still waters are calm yet advancing. Still waters are quiet yet powerful.

Stagnant waters resist change, reject correction, and recycle yesterday.

Today, God invites us:

Out of stagnation, complacency, and out of spiritual comfort zones into living waters.

Jesus cried out:

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” – John 7:37

And He promised:

“Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” -John 7:38

By the light of the now brilliant moons I saw that he was but a shadow of his former self, and as he turned from my caress and commenced greedily.

[1
21,36,69
post-4737","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-faith","tag-character","tag-imagine","tag-video
["GET
